Kim Cattrall’s Private Lives To Close Early

Kim Cattrall

It was a limited engagement that was set to run through February 5th. Now producers say that the revival of Noel Coward’s Private Lives, starring Kim Cattrall and Paul Gross, will go dark on December 31st. Slow ticket sales were said to be the reason for the early closing.

First performed in the 1930s, Private Lives is the story of a couple that have been divorced from each other for five years. Now both are honeymooning with their new spouses in Deauville on the French coast. When, by chance, they meet again across adjoining hotel balconies, their insatiable feelings for each other are immediately rekindled. They hurl themselves headlong into love and lust without a care for scandal, new partners or memories of what drove them apart in the first place…

This year’s revival had successful runs in London and Toronto before making its way to Broadway. But last week the show filled the Music Box Theatre to just 54% of capacity. And those disappointing numbers led producers to cut the show short at what will be 12 previews and 53 regular performances when it closes on the final day of the year.

And that’s today’s ShowBus Buzz. We’ll be back early next week with our next blog update. Please join us then.
