In just a little over 5 weeks from now on June 28th, Brooke Shields will take over Bebe Neuwirth’s role of Morticia in The Addams Family. And as you can see from this picture, she’s made quite a convincing transformation!
Broadway’s incarnation of The Addams Family features an original story. It’s every parent’s nightmare. Your little girl has suddenly become a young woman, and what’s worse, has fallen deliriously in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. Yes, Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has a “normal” boyfriend, and for parents Gomez and Morticia, it’s a shocking development that turns the Addams house upside down when they are forced to host a dinner for the young man and his parents.
This is not Shields’ first gig on The Great White Way. She has made appearances in Chicago, Cabaret, Grease and Wonderful Town. Of course she’s also well known for her long screen career, including memorable roles in films like Pretty Baby, The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love, and in TV’s Suddenly Susan.
