Two Tony Award winners have been tapped for the arrival of Driving Miss Daisy on Broadway. Legendary actors James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave will be taking the lead roles in this limited engagement set for later this year.
Driving Miss Daisy is the 1987 play by Pulitzer Prize winner Alfred Uhry about the relationship of an elderly Southern Jewish woman, Daisy Werthan, and her African-American chauffeur, Hoke Colburn, from 1948 to 1973. While the play has been performed off-Broadway in addition to winning an Academy Award for its big screen adaptation in 1989, this production will mark its debut on The Great White Way.
Driving Miss Daisy will begin previews at the Golden Theatre on October 7th, with opening night set for October 25th. You can be sure that ShowBus will have your tickets!
