Original cast member Kelli O’Hara will be returning to South Pacific on August 10th, after leaving the show previously due to pregnancy. O’Hara, who will return to her role as Ensign Nellie Forbush, was nominated for a Best Actress Tony Award in 2008 for that portrayal.
Unfortunately, the actress’ return will be short-lived, since South Pacific is set to end its run at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre less than two weeks later on August 22nd. But O’Hara will be on board for a national television broadcast of the show on PBS on August 18th.
South Pacific opened on April 3rd, 2008, and the production won 7 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival. At times it was a very difficult ticket to get! But we’re happy to report that if you’d like to catch it with us now – before it closes – it’s as simple as clicking here.
