Blazing Saddles May Be Broadway Bound

Mel Brooks has announced that he is hard at work on a stage adaptation of his movie, Blazing Saddles. Brooks confirmed that he has already composed two songs for the musical which should be ready for prime time in the next year or so.

The 1974 film, which starred Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder and Madeline Kahn, was a parody of the Hollywood Western film genre. It garnered three Academy Award nominations and is generally considered to be one of the all-time great American comedies.

This will be the funnyman Brooks’ third trip to the Great White Way. Previously Brooks had a major hit with The Producers and, more recently, he brought us Young Frankenstein. When and if Blazing Saddles makes it way to The Big Apple, you can be sure you’ll hear about it here.
